National polls: CEC assures suitable atmosphere for all parties

Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal has assured all political parties of ensuring a suitable atmosphere to participate in the upcoming national polls.
He urged the parties to participate in the 12th national elections scheduled to be held on January 7.
He made the call on Wednesday evening while announcing the schedule of the poll.
He assured them of taking all necessary measures to ensure a free and fair election.
The CEC also urged the countrymen to cast their votes fearlessly in a festive mood.
Following the announcement of the schedule, the EC has appointed 66 returning officers (ROs). The ROs with the assistance of the AROs will do all the necessary work to conduct the election.
The deadline for submitting nomination papers is November 30. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted by December 1-4, and the final date for withdrawing candidacy is December 17.
The electoral symbol will be allocated on December 18 and candidates can run election campaign from December 18 to 6am on January 5.
