National programs announced for Eid-e-Miladunnabi on August 26
The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) will be observed on August 26. The government has adopted extensive national-level programs to mark the day with due religious solemnity and dignity.
These programs were announced on Wednesday (August 19) in a press release signed by Md. Abubakar Siddique, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The schedule of activities was finalized earlier at an inter-ministerial meeting on August 13 to celebrate the occasion.
As part of the observances, the President and the Prime Minister will issue separate messages. The national flag will be hoisted atop government, semi-government, autonomous, and private buildings, as well as armed forces installations across the country. Major roads, traffic islands, and lamp posts in the capital will be decorated with national and colorful flags, along with banners featuring the Kalima Tayyiba.
Doa mahfils (prayers) will be organized in various mosques nationwide, including the Bangladesh Secretariat Mosque. Division, district, and upazila administrations, alongside city corporations, municipalities, and the Armed Forces Division, will host discussion sessions and prayer meetings in their respective jurisdictions.
The Islamic Foundation will organize waz mahfils (religious sermons), seminars, talk shows, Quran recitations (Qirat), Islamic songs (Hamd-Naat), self-composed poetry recitations, and student competitions. A month-long Islamic book fair will also take place at the South Lawn of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Furthermore, special programs highlighting the significance of the day will be broadcast on Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, and other media outlets, while newspapers will publish special supplements.
Educational institutions, District Shilpakala Academies, Shishu Academy, and various cultural and religious bodies across the country will hold discussions, prayers, and cultural or quiz competitions focusing on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), as well as Islam's message of peace, harmony, tolerance, universal brotherhood, human rights, and women's dignity.
Additionally, special meals will be served in hospitals, prisons, government children's homes, orphanages, residential child development centers, and old-age homes. Bangladesh embassies and diplomatic missions abroad will also observe the day with due respect. Relevant ministries and departments have been directed to enforce special measures to maintain law and order.
