Nayeemul Islam Khan, emeritus editor of the daily Amader Notun Shomoy, is set to get appointed as the new press secretary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. On May 28, a letter was sent from the Prime Minister's Office to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration to take necessary action regarding this contractual appointment. The letter informed that the appointment of the veteran journalist as press secretary has been approved by the appropriate authorities. According to the related sources, a final notification will be issued in this regard from the Ministry of Public Administration within a short time. On March 10, PM's press secretary Ihsanul Karim Helal died while undergoing treatment at Hospital. The post has been vacant since then.
