The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has asked business organizations for proposals to make VAT and related laws more modern and collaborative in the upcoming budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

This information was shared by NBR sources on Sunday (February 9).

The chambers and business associations have been requested to send their suggestions and proposals, in hard copy, to NBR's VAT Policy Section by March 6.

In addition to hard copies, proposals can also be sent directly via email (vatpolicy@gmail.com).

NBR has asked for feedback from business groups, chambers, and organizations on three main topics: the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012; the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Rules, 2016; and the Excise and Salt Act 1944.

Earlier, NBR had requested proposals to make the direct tax system more modern and inclusive for the 2025-2026 budget. This time, NBR is seeking well-thought-out opinions, proposals, and recommendations from businesses based on their practical experiences with VAT and other indirect tax laws.
