NBR selects 600 companies for audit in an automated manner
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has selected 600 companies for VAT audit in a fully automated manner. This information was given in a press release of the NBR on Thursday (April 2).
The release said that to ensure transparency in the VAT audit process, a new 'Automatic Risk Management Module' has been introduced in the 'e-VAT system'. This module uses 20 risk indicators to ensure automatic selection of companies, where there is no manual intervention.
The initially selected companies include 405 manufacturers, 98 service providers, 65 retailers and wholesalers and 32 import-export companies. The selected list has been published on the NBR website.
The NBR hopes that the introduction of this automated system will increase transparency, impartiality and efficiency in VAT management, ensure a taxpayer-friendly environment and strengthen prevention of revenue evasion.
