NCP and LDP join Jamaat-led alliance

The National Citizen Party and Liberal Democratic Party have joined the Jamaat-e-Islami-led eight-party alliance, expanding it into a ten-party alliance.

The announcement was made by Jamaat Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman at a press conference held at the National Press Club on Sunday, December 28. The briefing was moderated by Maulana Mamunul Haque.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman said he had spoken with NCP convener Nahid Islam shortly before the press conference and that NCP would make its formal announcement by Sunday night.

Leaders of other alliance parties were also present at the press conference.
