NCP appoints ambassadors in 270 seats to campaign for ‘Yes’ vote in referendum
The National Citizen Party, NCP, has appointed ‘ambassadors’ or representatives in 270 out of 300 parliamentary seats to campaign for a ‘Yes’ vote in the upcoming referendum.
The NCP, a partner of the Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party electoral alliance, has not fielded candidates in these seats.
The national parliamentary election and the referendum on 48 proposals related to constitutional reforms under the July Charter will be held on the same day, February 12. As previously announced, the NCP has published the names of ambassadors for 270 seats. In the remaining 30 seats, where the party has fielded candidates, they are campaigning both for votes under the Shapla Kali symbol and for a ‘Yes’ vote in the referendum.
The party said that names of ambassadors for 237 of the 270 seats were published on January 23, while the central election management committee announced ambassadors for the remaining 27 seats on Wednesday.
Earlier, in a press release, the party said the ambassadors would campaign locally in favour of the ‘Yes’ vote, presenting the NCP’s political position, the importance of the referendum and the necessity of voting ‘Yes’. The goal is to deliver the party’s message to the public in all constituencies, whether or not the party has candidates, and to build public opinion in favour of the ‘Yes’ vote.
