NCP is being guided by Jamaat’s advice: Rashed Khan

Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Rashed Khan has alleged that the National Citizen Party (NCP) is currently conducting its politics under the guidance of Jamaat-e-Islami, claiming that despite talking about a “new political arrangement,” the party is actually pursuing what he described as a “new deception.”

Speaking to reporters on Thursday (July 30) after a meeting with government officials and local dignitaries at the Jhenaidah Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Rashed Khan said the NCP should focus on constructive politics instead of engaging in what he called divisive political activities.

He accused some NCP leaders and activists of making derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife, as well as insulting elected members of parliament and government ministers during the party’s July campaign. According to him, such comments have triggered public backlash, citing recent incidents in Sylhet and Habiganj.

Criticizing NCP leader Nasiruddin Patwari, Rashed Khan alleged that several party leaders have been traveling across the country making offensive remarks about public representatives.

He stressed that leading the July mass uprising does not place anyone above the law, adding that legal proceedings would continue independently.

Commenting on the Awami League, he claimed that the party’s political chapter effectively ended when Sheikh Hasina left the country, asserting that the party has no future role in Bangladesh’s politics.

Rashed Khan also said the government, under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, does not believe in revenge politics.

Instead, he said, the Prime Minister has consistently urged party leaders and activists to reject political vengeance and work together for the country's development.
