The National Citizens Party (NCP) has launched an 11-day nationwide 'Padajatra' ahead of the upcoming parliamentary election and referendum.

The procession began on Sunday night at 9:00pm from the NCP office in the capital's Banglamotor, heading towards Chattogram.

Party convener Nahid Islam inaugurated the procession.

Key party leaders, including Election Steering Committee convener Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiya, member-secretary Munira Sharmin, and NCP’s youth wing chief Tarikul Islam, joined the procession.

According to NCP Election Media Committee chief Mahbub Alam, the procession aims to mobilise public support for the referendum and highlight the party’s political stance. The march will cover 24 districts, featuring rallies, street meetings, and other political activities.

Senior NCP leaders will also participate in the election campaign of the 11-party alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami.

On Monday, the march will begin at 8:00am with a visit to the grave of Shaheed Wasim, followed by a street meeting in Chittagong at 10:00am, a rally in Chandgaon at 11:00am, and another rally in Lakshmipur at 4:00pm.

The next day, rallies are planned in Noakhali’s Hatiya and Cumilla city. Senior southern organisers Hasnat Abdullah and Hannan Masud will also join the march.
