NCP suspends sit-in at Shahbagh, announces protest march in afternoon
National Citizen Party (NCP) has suspended its sit-in programme at Shahbagh demanding justice for the killing of Inqilab Mancha convener Sharif Osman Hadi.
In a message posted on the official Facebook page of the NCP on Friday (December 19), convener Nahid Islam said that considering the overall situation, the sit-in at Shahbagh after Friday prayers has been suspended. However, a protest march will be organized from Bangla Motor at 4pm. He requested everyone to participate.
Nahid Islam also said that maximum caution must be exercised in any programme after Friday prayers today. Some anti-July groups are planning vandalism and sabotage like yesterday. We are against any kind of violence and sabotage. Everyone must be aware that no stubborn group can use the anger of the people to carry out vandalism, arson or sabotage activities.
Earlier, students and the public blocked roads in Shahbagh from 7 am on Friday to protest the death of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, which brought traffic to a standstill in the area.
