The convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), Nahid Islam, has stated they will advance their demand for a new political arrangement through the current alliance. While various discussions and criticisms have surrounded the 11-party electoral alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami, the NCP remains steadfast on its core demands.

He made these remarks on Friday afternoon while presenting key parts of the party's 'Youth and Dignity Manifesto' at an event at Hotel Lakeshore in Gulshan, Dhaka.

Nahid said that while opportunities have been missed, achievements have also been made. He addressed questions about whether aligning with an older party meant abandoning the goal of a new arrangement, clarifying that this is primarily an electoral alliance built on minimal political consensus. He said their effort would be to implement reform demands and fulfil their priorities through this alliance.

The event began with the national anthem, followed by the election campaign theme song. NCP joint chief coordinator Abdullah Al Faisal presented the main themes of the manifesto. Attendees included poet and thinker Farhad Mazhar, Daily Star editor Mahfuz Anam, and Dhaka University teacher Dr Shereen Amin Bhuiyan.
