The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced a month-long program titled "July Awakening to Build the Nation" to mark the second anniversary of the July mass uprising. However, the party will not be holding any programs in the Gopalganj district.

Earlier, the NCP announced a march across 100 upazilas and municipalities in all 64 districts of the country to demand the implementation of referendum verdicts, employment, and border security on Saturday (July 4). However, just one hour after the announcement, the party cancelled its program for Gopalganj.

Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer for the NCP’s northern region, announced the programs during a press conference held at the party's central office in Banglamotor, Dhaka. He informed that the march will be officially inaugurated on July 6 from Kaliganj in Gazipur.

Notably, widespread clashes and violence erupted in Gopalganj during an NCP march and rally on July 16, 2025, leaving four people dead and over a hundred injured. A party source indicated that the decision to skip Gopalganj this year was made to avoid any similar violence.

Speaking at the press conference, Sarjis Alam said, "These programs have been undertaken to uphold the spirit of the mass uprising achieved through the supreme sacrifice of nearly 1,400 martyrs. In addition to a victory concert, there are plans for a program on July 26 to mark the 'One-Point Demand' declaration day, followed by an even larger program on August 3."
