NCP’s Nusrat Tabassum files writ petition to get nomination back

Nusrat Tabassum, a leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking to regain her candidacy for the reserved women's seats in the National Parliament.

A hearing on her petition may be held on Monday afternoon, April 27, before the High Court bench of Justice Ahmed Sohel and Justice Fatema Anwar.

The Election Commission (EC) cancelled Nusrat Tabassum's nomination papers on April 22 for being submitted after the scheduled deadline. The last date for submitting nomination papers for the reserved women's seats election, scheduled for May 12, was April 22.

According to Election Commission sources, the deadline for submitting nomination papers was 4:00 pm. NCP leader Nusrat Tabassum submitted her papers at 4:19 pm. The commission cancelled her nomination for missing the deadline.
