Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has published a new fare list for buses and minibuses following the increase in diesel prices. The fares have been fixed for all routes, including Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas, as well as inter-district and long-distance routes.

The fare list was published on the authority's website on Saturday, April 25. Prior to this, the government decided to increase bus fare by 11 paisa per kilometre, which has now taken effect.

In Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas, the minimum bus fare has been fixed at Tk 10. However, this new rate does not apply to CNG-run buses. For fractional fares, amounts above 50 paisa will be rounded up to Tk 1, while amounts below 50 paisa will be disregarded. Fares for AC buses are not set by the government; operators will determine those.

New fares on some Dhaka routes

Gulistan to Gazipur (41.5 km): Tk 105
Zoo to Keraniganj (21 km): Tk 53
Zoo to Technical: Tk 10 (minimum)
Zoo to Shyamoli: Tk 14

Chattogram metropolitan

Kalurghat to Newmarket (14 km): Tk 35
Newmarket to Airport (18.6 km): Tk 47

For long-distance buses, the fare per kilometre has been set at Tk 2.23 (for 51-seat buses). For buses with 40 seats, fares will increase proportionally. Ferry and bridge tolls will be added to the fare.

Inter-district fixed fares

Dhaka to Chattogram: Tk 552 (51 seats), Tk 704 (40 seats)
Dhaka to Sylhet: Tk 580, Tk 740
Dhaka to Barishal (via Padma Bridge): Tk 464, Tk 592
Dhaka to Rajshahi: Tk 625, Tk 797
Dhaka to Mymensingh: Tk 259, Tk 330

BRTA has said strict action will be taken against transport owners and workers if extra fares are charged beyond the fixed list. Transport operators have been instructed to display the fare list prominently inside every bus for the convenience of passengers.
