New divisional commissioner appointed for Dhaka

The government has appointed Md Moniruzzaman Miah as the new Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka. Simultaneously, new Deputy Commissioners (DC) have been appointed for Sylhet and Cumilla districts.

The appointments were announced through separate notifications from the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday, June 28.

According to the notifications, Md Moniruzzaman Miah, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, has been made the Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka. The post had become vacant after the previous commissioner, Sharf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, was promoted to secretary and appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.

Meanwhile, Rozi Akhter, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Cumilla.

The current Deputy Commissioner of Cumilla, Mu Reza Hasan, has been transferred to Sylhet as its new Deputy Commissioner.

Earlier, on June 21, Sylhet DC Md Sarwar Alam was withdrawn and attached to the Ministry of Public Administration as Deputy Secretary. The Sylhet DC post had remained vacant since then.
