A guard of honour has been given to BNP National Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, who has been given the charge of the Home Ministry in the new cabinet. The minister joined his workplace at the Secretariat for the first time on Wednesday (February 18). He was given a guard of honour at around 4:55pm. Ministry officials said that after assuming office, Salahuddin Ahmed will first pay a courtesy call on senior officials. After that, he will take a briefing on the ongoing law and order situation, border security, police administration activities and various issues related to citizen services.

নতুন মন্ত্রিসভায় স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের দায়িত্ব পাওয়া বিএনপির জাতীয় স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য সালাহউদ্দিন আহমদকে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে বরণ করতে গার্ড অব অনার দেওয়া হয়েছে। বুধবার (১৮ ফেব্রুয়ারি) প্রথমবারের মতো সচিবালয়ে নিজ কর্মস্থলে যোগদান করেন মন্ত্রী। বিকেল ৪টা ৫৫ মিনিটের দিকে তাকে গার্ড অব অনার প্রদান করা হয়। মন্ত্রণালয়ের কর্মকর্তারা জানিয়েছেন, দায়িত্ব গ্রহণের পর সালাহউদ্দিন আহমদ প্রথমে ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তাদের সঙ্গে সৌজন্য সাক্ষাৎ করবেন। এরপর তিনি চলমান আইনশৃঙ্খলা পরিস্থিতি, সীমান্ত নিরাপত্তা, পুলিশ প্রশাসনের কার্যক্রম এবং নাগরিক সেবা সংক্রান্ত বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে ব্রিফিং নেবেন।
