New parliament marks beginning of democratic march: Home Minister
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said the newly convened parliament reflects the aspirations of the people and will mark the beginning of a renewed democratic journey in the country.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday morning (March 12) before attending the first sitting of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, the minister said the parliament was formed in line with public expectations.
“Today the people’s expected parliament is beginning its journey. Through this parliament, the march of democracy will move forward and the aspirations of the July martyrs will be realised,” he said.
The first session of the 13th parliament is scheduled to begin at 11:00am. President Mohammed Shahabuddin will deliver the inaugural address.
The presidential speech will later be approved by the cabinet and subsequently discussed by members of parliament during the session.
