New pay scale to be implemented this year: Finance Minister

Following the announcement by Prime Minister's Principal Secretary A B M Abdus Sattar that the long-awaited 9th National Pay Scale for government employees is in its final stages, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has now provided good news on the matter. The finance minister said the government is working on the new pay scale and discussions are ongoing, with the new pay scale to be announced within this year.

He made the remarks to journalists after a meeting on the pay scale at the Ministry of Finance on Monday afternoon.

When asked whether the new pay scale would be implemented within this year, the finance minister said, "The new pay scale will be implemented within this year. Everything will be done, but there are matters for further discussion. Today we discussed one aspect. There are other issues. After discussions, when a full decision is reached, it will be presented before you."

The finance minister also said the government is considering all matters with utmost importance regarding the pay scale announcement.

Urging everyone to be patient, the finance minister said detailed information would be provided after a complete and final decision is taken.
