New secretaries appointed in two ministries, two withdrawn

The government has appointed new secretaries to two ministries. Additionally, two secretaries have been withdrawn, while a previous withdrawal order of another secretary has been suspended.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued six separate notifications regarding these changes on Sunday (29 March).

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Md Ashraful Islam, has been promoted and appointed as Secretary to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. Meanwhile, the current Secretary of the same ministry, Israt Chowdhury, has been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration.

Kaniz Mowla has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. She was previously serving as Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat. On 25 March, she had been transferred to the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) as Secretary.

On the other hand, Md Mofidur Rahman, Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, has been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration.

Earlier, on 25 March, Sirajun Noor Chowdhury, Secretary of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED), was also attached to the Ministry of Public Administration. However, that order has now been suspended until further notice.

Meanwhile, Zakaria, who was promoted on 25 March from Chairman of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority to Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, has now been appointed as a Member (Secretary) of the Planning Commission.
