New SPs appointed in three districts

The government has appointed new superintendents of police (SPs) in three districts while transferring several other senior police officials.

The changes were announced in separate notifications issued by the Police-1 Branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday (August 12).

According to the notifications, Mohammad Jasim Uddin, SP of Kushtia, has been appointed SP of Gazipur. Md Aminul Islam, SP at the office of the Sylhet Range DIG, has been appointed SP of Kushtia, while Police Staff College SP Sarker Omar Faruk has been appointed SP of Khulna.

Three other police officials have also been transferred under the same notification.

Administrative sources in the police said at least 17 senior police officials have been transferred through several separate notifications.

The latest changes are being viewed as a major reshuffle in the police administration in recent times.
