Following the release of new designs for the Tk 1,000, 50, and 20 banknotes, the central bank has decided to introduce the new Tk 100 banknotes into circulation on August 12 (Tuesday).

The information was confirmed in a press release issued on Sunday (August 10) by the Communications and Publications Department of Bangladesh Bank, signed by Director Nurunnahar.

According to the release, Bangladesh Bank has undertaken the initiative to print new designs and series of all denominations featuring the country’s historical and archaeological landmarks.

As part of this initiative, after the Tk 1,000, 50, and 20 banknotes, the new 100 taka banknotes — signed by Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H. Mansur — will now be issued for circulation.

Initially, the new Tk 100 notes will be released from the central bank’s Motijheel office on August 12, and later from its other offices across the country.

The press release also stated that along with the newly designed Tk 100 banknotes, all currently circulating paper notes and coins will remain valid for transactions.

In addition, considering the demand from currency collectors, Bangladesh Bank has also printed non-exchangeable specimen 100 taka notes alongside the regular ones.

Interested individuals will be able to collect these specimen notes from the Currency Museum in Mirpur.
