New VCs appointed at DU, six other public universities
The government has appointed new Vice-Chancellors (VCs) at seven public universities, including the country's premier institution, Dhaka University.
Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon announced this information at a press conference on Monday, March 16.
The education minister informed that Professor A B M Obaidul Islam has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University.
Additionally, Professor Rais Uddin has been appointed VC at Jagannath University, Professor Siddiqur Rahman Khan at Bangladesh Open University, and Professor Nurul Islam at Dhaka Central University.
On the other hand, Professor Mohammad Masud has been appointed VC at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET).
Furthermore, Professor Md Al Forqan has been appointed VC at Chittagong University, and Professor Faridul Islam has been appointed VC at Rajshahi University.
Additionally, Professor Mamun Ahmed has been appointed Chairman of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC), the regulatory body for universities in the country.
The Education Minister expressed hope that these appointments by the government will further streamline the administrative activities of the concerned universities.
