NGO’s contribution to Bangladesh's development needs attention: Debapriya

Chief of the interim government's White Paper Preparation Committee Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya said that, “non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have come under the influence of corruption while doing developmental work which was approached by the district administration and law enforcement agencies. In this situation, NGOs want attention for their contribution of development of the country”.

He said this after a meeting with representatives of private development organizations at the NEC conference room on Monday (October 7).

Debapriya Bhattacharya highlighted the speech of NGO representatives and said that their role in the development of the country should be recognized.

He added that, as part obstacles to their participation in the development of the country, the NGOs informed about the corruption of the government related institutions, non-cooperation of the administration, non-cooperation of the embassies abroad. Their views will be included in the white paper in the form of recommendations to the government.
