Nine more deaths from dengue in 24 hours, 1,571 admitted to hospital

The Directorate General of Health Services has said nine more people have died after being infected with dengue across the country in the last 24 hours. In the same period 1,571 new dengue patients have been admitted to various hospitals of the country.

This information has been given in a dengue-related press release sent from the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday (September 8).

According to the information of the Directorate General of Health Services, 130 people have died of dengue so far this year. Among them 33 people have died in the first eight days of September alone. In addition 43 people died in August, 36 in July, 13 in June, one in May and two each in January and February of dengue.

In the last 24 hours a significant number of patients have also been admitted to hospitals in the two city corporation areas of Dhaka. 196 people have been admitted to hospitals in the Dhaka North City Corporation area and 134 people to hospitals in the South City Corporation area. In addition 408 people have been admitted to hospitals outside the two city corporations of Dhaka.

Outside Dhaka the highest number of patients have been admitted in Khulna division, 242 people. 177 people in Chattogram, 142 in Barisal, 116 in Rajshahi, 77 in Mymensingh, 71 in Rangpur and eight dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals in Sylhet.

According to the calculation of the Directorate General of Health Services, 45,475 people have been admitted to hospitals after being infected with dengue in the country from January 1 to now. Among them 42,127 people have left the hospital after recovery following treatment. Currently 3,218 people are under treatment in various hospitals of the country.
