Nine more secretaries removed
The contracts of nine more secretaries and senior secretaries have been cancelled after the government removed three others from their posts in a sweeping administrative shake-up.
The BNP-led government cancelled the remaining contract terms of the officials, all of whom had been appointed on contractual arrangements during the tenure of the interim government.
The officials are--Md Saidur Rahman, secretary of the Health Services Division
Shish Haider Chowdhury, secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Division
Mokhlesh-Ur-Rahman, member of the Planning Commission (senior secretary)
MA Akmall Hossain Azad, senior secretary
Quayyum Ara Begum, secretary
Begum Sharifa Khan, alternate executive director at the World Bank
Mohammed Yousuf, senior secretary of the Land Appeal Board
Mamtaz Ahmed, senior secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs
Siddique Zobair, director general of the National Academy for Planning and Development
The move marks the first major bureaucratic overhaul in the administration during the new government’s first week in office following the national election.
In two phases on Monday, a total of 12 secretaries were removed from their posts, though no new appointments have yet been made to fill the vacancies.
Separate orders issued on Monday evening first reassigned three secretaries to the Ministry of Public Administration.
At night, the government cancelled the remaining contractual terms of nine others.
