Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that no animal markets for sacrifice will be allowed on roads, highways and railway lines during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. He said that to ensure smooth movement of people, the Prime Minister has given clear instructions that no markets will be set up on roads. Orders have also been given to maintain discipline in all areas - roads, railways and waterways.

He gave this information after a high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on the overall situation surrounding Eid-ul-Azha on Monday evening (May 4).

The Home Minister said, "It is necessary to ensure that passengers are dropped off from buses at ferry piers and then picked up and dropped off on ferries. For this, there will be signboards and miking arrangements at each pier. If any bus driver is found negligent, a strict decision will be taken regarding his license." He also said that the Road Transport and Bridges Minister will hold a meeting with the Bus Owners and Workers Federation in this regard.

Regarding road accident prevention and immediate treatment, the Home Minister said that the trauma centers of the Health Ministry located along the highways will be activated. Doctors and nurses with necessary equipment will be appointed there under the leadership of the civil surgeon. In addition, the nearby upazila and district hospitals have been instructed to be ready seven days before Eid.

To make the Eid journey safe and to maintain law and order, a 'monitoring cell' will be formed at the police headquarters seven days before Eid. This cell will monitor the highway's CCTV cameras and collect district-level information and conduct round-the-clock supervision.

Stating that the government is imposing special restrictions this time to ensure the protection and fair price of the leather industry, the Home Minister said, "No leather will be allowed to enter the capital from outside Dhaka for the first seven days after the sacrifice. The leather must be stored locally."

He also said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered the removal of waste from the sacrificial animal within 12 hours.

The meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, was attended by the Local Government Minister, Commerce Minister, Religious Affairs Minister, Road Transport and Bridges Minister, as well as the administrators of the North and South City Corporations, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the heads of intelligence agencies.
