State Minister for Shipping Rajib Ahshan has said that no complaints of extra fare collection have been reported on waterways ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. During a visit to Sadarghat Launch Terminal on Tuesday (March 17), he said, "The government has set fares 10 per cent below the official rates to ensure comfortable travel for passengers." The minister added that regular inspections have been strengthened to ensure the fitness and safety of the launches. Additional terminals at Bojila and Shimulia have been opened to ease passenger congestion, and plans are underway to make them permanent. All necessary preparations have been taken to ensure improved passenger services and a smooth journey during the festive period, he said.

নৌপথে অতিরিক্ত ভাড়া আদায়ের কোনো অভিযোগ পাওয়া যায়নি বলে জানিয়েছেন নৌপরিবহন প্রতিমন্ত্রী রাজিব আহসান। তিনি বলেছেন, ঈদুল ফিতর উপলক্ষে যাত্রীদের স্বস্তিদায়ক ভ্রমণ নিশ্চিত করতে সরকার নির্ধারিত ভাড়ার চেয়েও ১০ শতাংশ কম ভাড়া নির্ধারণ করেছে। মঙ্গলবার রাজধানীর সদরঘাট লঞ্চ টার্মিনাল পরিদর্শন শেষে সাংবাদিকদের সঙ্গে আলাপকালে তিনি এ তথ্য জানান। প্রতিমন্ত্রী বলেন, লঞ্চগুলোর ফিটনেস নিশ্চিত করতে নিয়মিত পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা কার্যক্রম জোরদার করা হয়েছে। যাত্রীদের নিরাপদ ও নির্বিঘ্ন যাত্রা নিশ্চিতে সব ধরনের প্রস্তুতি নেওয়া হয়েছে। তিনি আরও জানান, এবারের ঈদযাত্রা অন্যান্য সময়ের তুলনায় আরও স্বস্তিদায়ক ও আনন্দময় হবে। সদরঘাটে যাত্রীর চাপ কমাতে বছিলা ও শিমুলিয়া লঞ্চঘাট চালু করা হয়েছে। ভবিষ্যতে যাত্রীচাহিদা বিবেচনায় এসব ঘাট স্থায়ী করার পরিকল্পনাও রয়েছে।
