No death from dengue in 24 hours, 868 admitted to hospital

The Directorate General of Health Services has reported that no one has died from dengue in the country in the last 24 hours. However 868 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospital in the same period.

This information was given in the regular report of the Directorate General of Health Services on Thursday (August 27).

According to information of the Directorate General of Health Services, 88 people have died from dengue this year till 8am on Thursday. The number of patients admitted to hospital during this period has stood at 32,248. At present 2,083 are undergoing treatment in various hospitals of the country.

Among the newly admitted patients 68 have been admitted to various hospitals in Dhaka North City Corporation area and 98 in South City Corporation area. 150 have been admitted in other areas of Dhaka division.

Besides, 205 dengue-infected people have been admitted to hospital in Khulna division, 110 in Barishal, 109 in Chattogram, 73 in Rajshahi, 38 in Mymensingh and 17 in Rangpur division.

According to statistics of the Directorate General of Health Services, the most devastating situation of dengue in the country was seen in 2023. That year more than 3,21,000 people were infected and 1,705 died. In 2024 1,01,214 people were infected and 575 died. And in 2025 the number of infected was 1,02,861 and 413 died.

Although there has been no death from dengue in the last 24 hours this year, the number of new patient admissions is still at a worrying level.
