No EVMs in national election, ballot papers to be used: CEC
Chief Election Commissioner AAM Nasir Uddin said that the Election Commission is ready to hold elections at any time, saying that the next national elections will be held through ballots.
He said this while talking to the media at the Agargaon Election Building in the capital on Tuesday (December 17) afternoon.
When asked about the Chief Adviser's statement which he remarked on Monday, he said that they are also ready for the by-election. EVMs will not be used in this election. The elections will be held through ballots.
In his speech to the nation on the occasion of Victory Day on Monday (December 16), Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus said that it can be said that the election time can be set between the end of 2025 and the first half of 2026.
The day before yesterday, on December 15, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said that the people have the right to know how many more months the interim government will need to reform the state. If the advisers' faces show discomfort upon hearing the announcement of the roadmap for the upcoming work plan, it will definitely be against the people's wishes.
Meanwhile, regarding the participation of the Awami League in the elections, he said that various discussions are underway regarding the participation of the Awami League in the elections. It is a political decision. However, the commission will not comment on this matter.
Regarding the preparations, he said that many applications have been received regarding the re-demarcation of the boundaries, but the boundaries will be re-demarcated on the basis of fairness. Not to win anyone over, but fairness will be ensured.
The blood of the student population cannot be betrayed. They have agitated for fair elections and a country without discrimination. Therefore, they are going to work to hold impartial and fair elections, he said.
