No extortion will be collected on roads during Eid journey: Sheikh Rabiul Alam

All persons concerned are on alert to ensure safe travel of passengers on roads, bridges, railways and waterways during the Eid vacation, said Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Waterways Sheikh Rabiul Alam.

He made this remarks on Thursday (March 5).

The minister said: “Law enforcement agencies and everyone in the transport sector are active. There is a monitoring system, mobile courts are in effect, highway police are alert. Local administration, especially road and highway police stations, are also active. Transport worker leaders are also working responsibly. There is no scope for extortion during the Eid journey under any circumstances.”

He also said that this preparatory meeting was held at the ministry to ensure safe and smooth travel of passengers.
