No final decision yet on cabinet reshuffle: Information Advisor

Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Advisor Zahed Ur Rahman stated that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman may redistribute portfolios among cabinet members or assign new individuals if deemed necessary. However, he added that no final decision has yet been made regarding whether such a move will take place after the government completes its 180 days in office.

The Information Advisor made these remarks during a regular press conference held at the Secretariat on Tuesday (July 21).

Zahed Ur Rahman said, "The Prime Minister has formed a cabinet. He has formed an advisory council. From what I understand through conversations with him, if he ever feels that someone is not performing well, he will redistribute their portfolio or assign someone new."

The advisor further noted, "The most important issue to the Prime Minister is the welfare of the people. If there is an opportunity to make a better choice or decision as Prime Minister, he will do so. Speaking with him personally has given me this impression."

Following an absolute victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the new cabinet began its journey on February 17 under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Currently, in addition to the Prime Minister, the cabinet consists of 24 full ministers and 23 ministers of state. Furthermore, 10 advisors are serving with the status of ministers and ministers of state. According to the customary Rules of Business, the sole authority to distribute portfolios or ministry responsibilities among ministers and ministers of state rests with the Prime Minister.

Additionally, the Information Advisor highlighted various recent activities of the government during the press conference. Principal Information Officer of the Press Information Department, Syed Abdal Ahmed, was also present among others at the event.
