The Energy and Mineral Resources Division has said there is no risk of fuel oil shortage in the country.

In a press release on Saturday, March 28, the division stated that the current stock and supply situation of fuel oil is completely normal. The public has been urged to refrain from panic buying and hoarding.

The release noted that petrol, octane and diesel are highly flammable substances, making their storage risky. Citizens have been warned against illegal fuel storage and encouraged to raise awareness among others.

Legal action is already underway against hoarders, with mobile courts operating in every district under executive magistrates, the division added.

The government has not increased fuel oil prices, and necessary fuel is being imported from international markets to meet demand. There is no risk of supply disruption.

To monitor the situation, 'tag officers' have been appointed at all petrol pumps across the country. BPC will oversee this in Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas, while district and upazila administrations will assign officers elsewhere.

Appointed tag officers will work according to prescribed procedures and submit daily reports on the situation.
