No gaps in healthcare or vaccine campaigns: Health Minister
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain has assured the general public that there will be no shortage in the country's healthcare and vaccination programs. He said that the government's main goal at present is to ensure the health protection of children and accelerate the vaccination program.
The Health Minister said this at a press conference organized on the current status of government vaccines on Tuesday (May 13).
The minister said that pneumonia is occurring as a complication of measles in many children, for which ventilation becomes essential. The government has already ensured adequate ventilation facilities. In addition, 10 more new ventilators have been received as a donation from America through a private entrepreneur, which will be distributed to various hospitals today. Currently, measles treatment, isolation and ICU services are operational and doctors are working tirelessly.
Regarding the vaccine situation, Md. Sakhawat Hossain said, we have sufficient quantities of vaccines. Today, 383,080 doses (76,616 vials) of vaccine have been officially received from the Chinese company Sinovac. Along with this, the polio and anti-rabies vaccination program is also starting in full swing.
He also said that special attention is being paid to ensure that not a single child is left out of the vaccination coverage.
In response to a question from journalists whether there has been any mismanagement in the past regarding vaccination or whether an investigation will be conducted, the Health Minister said, "Before finding out who is at fault, we need to keep our mothers' breasts full."
