No hike in bus fare until government's final decision: BSPMS

Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Malik Samity (BSPMS) has instructed transport owners not to charge additional fares until the government takes the final decision.

The instructions were given in a circular signed by the association's Secretary General Md. Saiful Alam on Tuesday night.

The circular said that the cost of vehicle parts and maintenance has increased significantly due to the increase in the price of diesel by Tk 15 per liter and the appreciation of the dollar. In this situation, the owners' association has urged the government to adjust the fares quickly.

Earlier, the authorities concerned took the initiative to adjust the bus fares after the increase in the price of fuel oil on April 18.

A meeting of the fare redetermination committee was held at the office of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) on April 19.

Even though two days have passed after that meeting, the government has not yet issued any notification adjusting the fares.
