No leniency for drug-linked police members: IGP
Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir has said that strict action will be taken against any member of the police force if he is involved in drug dealing. There will be no leniency at all.
He said this at an award ceremony organized at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the capital on Tuesday (May 12).
IGP said that drugs are a big threat to the country's youth and future. The police are working with utmost sincerity and professionalism to face this challenge.
He also said that if the allegations of drug involvement against police members are found to be true, no leniency will be given to anyone.
At the ceremony, the IGP highlighted the past political context and said that the state leadership has played a role in the development of the police at different times.
He said that the police members who sacrificed themselves for the country during the Liberation War should be remembered and the current force is also working to maintain that tradition.
IGP further said that the image of the force was damaged due to the use of the police in various ways for a long time, but now the force is trying to regain public trust by coming out of that situation.
He said that the police is a traditional force that plays an important role in maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety and curbing crime.
Addressing the award-winning members, he said that this achievement is not only an honor, but also a reflection of responsibility and professionalism. He urged them to work with more dedication and honesty in the future.
