No mercy for cheating or malpractice during exams: Education Minister
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said that the 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will start across the country from July 2. The government is on the highest alert to organize the exams in a fair, transparent and question paper-leak-free environment. No one will be able to pass if they commit punishable crimes.
He said these things at a press conference organized on the occasion of the 2026 HSC and equivalent examinations at the Secretariat on Wednesday (July 1).
The Education Minister said that members of the law enforcement agencies on duty at the examination centers will have body-worn cameras. Strict action will be taken against those concerned if they try to leak questions or spread misleading information on social media.
He also said that three sets of question papers have been prepared to deal with any disaster, question paper leak or unwanted situation. In disaster-prone areas, the local administration will take necessary decisions after considering the situation.
The Education Minister said that there will be an opportunity to re-evaluate the exam paper, and at the same time, it will be monitored whether the marks given by the examiners are correct or not, and whether anyone is giving abnormally low or high marks.
He said that the government is working to uncover the reasons for student dropouts and necessary steps will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future. He expressed hope that this time the HSC exam will be completed peacefully and smoothly.
At the time, the Minister said that a curriculum committee is working to implement the new curriculum from 2028. The curriculum will be made more up-to-date through necessary changes. At the same time, the 2027 SSC exam will start on January 7.
In addition, he said that government permission will have to be obtained to build coaching centers.
