No new clinic within 1 kilometre of government hospital, doctors’ practice also prohibited

The Directorate General of Health Services has directed that permission will not be given for establishing any new private clinic within one kilometre of a government hospital. At the same time doctors of government hospitals will not be able to practice in the existing private clinics within this boundary either.

This directive was issued by the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday (September 22).

This directive has been given in a letter signed by Director of the Hospitals and Clinics Division of the directorate Dr Md Nurul Islam.

It has been said in the letter that this measure has been taken according to decision No 6 of the minutes of the meeting on improvement of the quality of healthcare held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister on August 17.

The Directorate General of Health Services has directed the concerned persons to take necessary steps to implement the decision in light of the minutes of that meeting sent from the Prime Minister’s Office.
