Nasiruddin Patwary, chief coordinator of the National Citizen Party, NCP, and candidate of the 11-party alliance for Dhaka-8 constituency, warned that no one attempting to capture polling centres would be able to return home.

He issued the warning while campaigning in Khilgaon area of the capital on January 31.

Patwary said extortionists, drug traders and terrorists would have their limbs broken wherever they are found. He alleged that statements from one party indicate preparations to capture polling centres. He said resistance would be built with public support and warned that no one attempting to seize polling centres would be able to go back home.

He said they have received information that hockey sticks and stamps are sold out in Gulistan. He added that his supporters are also preparing to face the situation but would not take the law into their own hands and would instead build resistance with public support.

Referring to his election manifesto, Patwary said he would work on education, healthcare rights, drainage problems and the crisis in local kitchen markets. He also pledged to address extortion, terrorism and ensure justice for Shaheed Osman Hadi, describing it as the top agenda for Dhaka-8. He said the second priority would be eliminating terrorism, followed by building a society free from drugs, extortion and illegal occupation.

He also promised healthcare services for women facing harassment and vowed to stop the practice of occupation trade in schools.

The NCP leader said the party has declared war against extortion, drugs and terrorism in Dhaka-8. He alleged that some individuals start their day with extortion and plan the next day’s extortion before going to sleep. He claimed people no longer want extortionists in power and expressed confidence that the 11-party alliance would win the election.
