No one will be spared in July genocide cases: Chief Prosecutor
The Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, Mohammad Tajul Islam, has issued a strong warning that none of those responsible for the July genocide will be allowed to evade justice.
Speaking at a press briefing at the tribunal premises on Monday, Tajul Islam made it clear that anyone involved in the atrocities or attempts to disrupt the judicial process will face consequences. “No one who committed these crimes will be spared,” he said firmly.
He also assured that the tribunal’s proceedings will continue without interruption.
The remarks came as the tribunal opened a case related to the killing of six people, including student Anas, in Chand Khanpul during the July-August movement. Tajul Islam presented the opening statement in this crimes against humanity case.
Afterward, the first witness, Shahid Anas’s father Palash, took the stand. Anas’s mother was also present to testify.
Tajul Islam underscored the government’s commitment to justice, saying, “The families of the young martyrs who gave their lives for Bangladesh’s second liberation remain alive. Through their testimonies, justice will be ensured for the families of over 1,500 victims.”
