No place for lawyers who embezzle clients’ funds: Law Minister
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman has said that lawyers who embezzle money from clients in the name of getting justice are not acceptable in the society.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Attorney General's Office and UNDP Joint Internship Program at the Supreme Court Auditorium on Monday (April 13).
He said that ethics are very important in the legal profession. If a lawyer uses the judicial process to embezzle clients' money, it is against the dignity of the profession.
The Law Minister also said that if there is a process to appoint a judge to a lucrative position after retirement, it can affect the independence of the Supreme Court. It is necessary to be careful about such issues.
He said that a proposal has been sent to the Prime Minister to provide one intern each for research work for members of parliament. He also mentioned that initiatives are being taken to reform the Attorney General's Office and increase the budget.
