No question of BNP-India secret pact: Mahdi Amin
BNP Chairperson's Adviser for political affairs and Spokesperson for the party’s election management, Mahdi Amin, dismissed claims of a secret agreement with India, calling them “completely false and baseless” and labeling the claims as mere propaganda.
Speaking at a press conference at BNP’s election operations office in Gulshan on Saturday (January 24), Dr. Amin emphasised that safeguarding Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty remains the core of BNP’s politics. “There is no question of any secret deal with India,” he stated.
Dr. Amin also criticised the claims made by a senior leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, terming them “utterly false” and expressing strong condemnation of such statements.
At the event, he thanked party activists for supporting BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman on his first election campaign tour. Dr. Amin said Tarique Rahman will leave Dhaka for Chattogram Saturday night and will address rallies in four districts, including Chattogram, on Sunday.
The press conference was held in response to allegations made on January 22 in Chauddagram, Cumilla, where Jamaat-e-Islami’s Deputy Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah M. Taher claimed BNP had reached a three-point deal with India ahead of the upcoming election.
