No room for Eid fare hikes, violators will face action: Transport Minister

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam has directed the transport sector not to raise fares during the upcoming Eid, warning that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to do so.

He made the remarks while inspecting the various bus terminal in Narayanganj Saturday (February 28).

The terminal include, Narayanganj Terminal, the under-construction Khanpur ICT and Bulk Terminal, the Dredger Bed, and the terminal building at the Narayanganj Fish Ghat, funded by the World Bank.

“We hope the Eid journey will be comfortable and safe for all travelers,” he said.

He added that action will be taken wherever traffic congestion or disorder occurs, with traffic police, river police, and the Coast Guard maintaining vigilance.

Regarding pollution in the Shitalakkhya River, the minister said the Environment Ministry will be informed and necessary government measures will be taken.

State Minister Habibur Rashid Habib and officials from relevant ministries were present during the inspection.
