No security threat during Durga Puja: IGP
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has assured the public that there is no security threat during the Durga Puja celebrations. While a few minor incidents have occurred, he said, legal action has been taken immediately.
The IGP made the remarks on Thursday afternoon (September 25) after visiting the Banglabazar Sarbojanin Puja Mandap in Sutrapur, Dhaka.
“The defeated fascist forces tried to show their strength on the streets Wednesday(September 24), but the police successfully thwarted their attempt,” he added.
Referring to a recent incident in Rajbari, where a body was exhumed from a shrine and burned, the IGP said such events are unlikely to take place during Durga Puja.
He further emphasized the importance of social initiatives to prevent conflicts arising from religious differences.
