No specific threat of sabotage ahead of Eid-ul-Azha: RAB DG
The Rapid Action Battalion has not received any specific threat of sabotage ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the elite force's Director General Md Ahsan Habib Palash has said.
He made the remarks after visiting and reviewing the overall security arrangements at the National Eidgah Maidan on Tuesday morning, May 26.
Although there is no specific threat, RAB has taken special security preparations to deal with any situation, he said.
The RAB chief said all battalions are conducting robust patrolling in their respective areas. Special security measures have been taken around major Eid congregations. Checkposts and search operations are being conducted in coordination with other law enforcement agencies.
Intelligence surveillance has been increased to prevent black marketing, hoarding, price hikes, food adulteration and marketing of counterfeit products ahead of Eid.
RAB's online monitoring activities will also remain operational round the clock. With public gatherings decreasing in the capital and major cities during the holidays, the risk of theft, robbery and snatching may increase. Night-time security checkposts and patrols have been increased at metropolitan, district and upazila levels to tackle the situation.
RAB has also taken all-out measures to ensure the safety of people travelling home for Eid. Regular patrols, intelligence surveillance and operations will continue to maintain law and order.
