Normalcy returns to RMG factories
Most of the RMG factories in Ashulia opened Sunday (September 8) morning following the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) directive.
However, sources at the industrial police said some factories were forced to declare holidays as the discussions between the owners and workers were not fruitful.
Aat least 30 factories were forced to declare holiday within four hours, said Md Sarowar Alam, superintendent of industrial police.
The situation in most of the factories in the area remained normal except for The New Age Group and Al Muslim Group, among a few other factories.
According to BGMEA sources, workers from at least 20 factories, including Yagi Bangladesh, New Age, Al Muslim, and Generation Next, left the factory premises with various demands.
Workers from seven factories, including Lusaka, Muscat, and Beximco, created disturbances inside the factories, the sources said.
Meanwhile, at least five factories remained closed since the beginning of the protests.
