Nor'westers forecast in 9 districts, signal 1 issued for river ports

The Meteorological Department has forecast nor'westers and thunderstorms with a maximum speed of 60 kilometers per hour in nine districts of the country.

This forecast will remain in effect until 9 am on Thursday (April 2). River ports in the areas concerned have been asked to display signal number 1.

The Meteorological Department's notification said that temporary gusts or squalls at a speed of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour may blow from the west or northwest over Rangpur, Dinajpur, Dhaka, Tangail, Mymensingh, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Sylhet regions.

Along with this, there is a possibility of rain with thunder in these areas. For this reason, river ports have been asked to obey naval warning signal number 1.

The regular bulletin for the next 24 hours has said that there may be rain or thunderstorm accompanied by temporary gusty winds at one or two places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. Along with lightning, there is also a risk of scattered hailstorm in some areas.
