Notification for 51st special BCS to recruit 5,000 doctors

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has published the notification for the 51st special BCS to recruit 5,000 doctors in government hospitals. Through this, 4,700 assistant surgeons and 300 assistant dental surgeons will be recruited in the health cadre.

Those with MBBS, BDS or equivalent degrees can apply for this BCS. Online applications will begin from 10am on October 1. Applications can be submitted until 6pm on October 25. The application fee has been fixed at Tk 200.

The PSC published the notification for this special BCS on Thursday. The notification mentioned the probable time for holding the written examination in November.

In selecting candidates, a 200-mark preliminary examination will be held first. After that, there will be a 100-mark skills-based viva examination. The preliminary examination will carry 20 marks each for Bangla, English, Bangladesh Affairs and International Affairs. Mental ability and mathematical reasoning will carry 10 marks each. Additionally, there will be 100 marks for cadre-related subjects.

Earlier, on November 26 last year, the PSC published the notification for the 50th BCS. That was a general BCS. The results of the written examination of that BCS have already been published. A total of 6,165 job seekers passed it.

The 49th BCS that followed was a special BCS. Through it, arrangements were made to recruit 683 teachers in government colleges.

In the health cadre, recruitment through a special BCS was last held in the 48th BCS. In that BCS, a process was taken to recruit more than three thousand doctors. On September 11 last year, the PSC published the final result of the 48th special BCS. A total of 3,120 candidates passed it. Among them, 2,820 were temporarily recommended for the post of assistant surgeon and 300 for the post of assistant dental surgeon.
