Notification issued for reshuffle of SPs in 64 districts
The government today (November 26) has issued a gazette notification confirming the postings of 64 SPs nationwide ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The Home Ministry issued the notification and Deputy Secretary Md. Mahbubur Rahman signed it.
Earlier, on November 24, the SPs of 64 districts were finalised through a lottery held at the residence of the Chief Adviser, 'Jamuna.' Of them, one-fourth of SPs being newly appointed and the rest transferred from other districts.
Additionally, DMP Additional Commissioner (DIG) Md. Zillur Rahman has been appointed as Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner in a separate notification.
Following the development, Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that no meritorious candidate was left out in the lottery-based recruitment and posting of police superintendents (SPs).
Speaking at the Secretariat after an ADP review meeting on Wednesday (November 26), he explained that the 64 districts’ SPs were categorized into A, B, and C based on law and order conditions. After transferring 18 incumbent SPs, new appointments were made in those districts, and the remaining SPs were assigned to other districts through the lottery.
