Notification issued forming Constitution reform commission
A notification has been issued setting up a nine-member full-fledged Constitution Reform Commission, says a press release signed by Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain on Monday (October 7).
According to the notification, with the approval of the chief adviser of the interim government, a 'Constitution Reform Commission' has been formed to review and evaluate the existing constitution of the country and prepare a report with necessary recommendations for the purpose of reforming the constitution, establishing a representative and effective democracy and empowering the people.
The members of the commission are - political scientist and writer Professor Ali Riaz (head of the commission), Professor Sumaiya Khair of the Law Department of Dhaka University (member), Bar-at-Law Imran Siddiqui (member), Professor Muhammad Ikramul Haque of the Law Department of Dhaka University (member), Bangladesh Advocate of the Supreme Court. Sharif Bhuiyan (member), Bar-at-Law M Moeen Alam Ferozi (member), writer Firoz Ahmed (member), writer and human rights activist Md Mustain Billah (member), and student representative Md Mahfuz Alam (Member).
