Number of students failing in secondary exams rises by nearly 90,000

The results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC), Dakhil and SSC (Vocational) examinations have been published.

An analysis of the results shows that the number of students who failed this year increased by nearly 90,000.

The information was revealed after an analysis of the statistics of the SSC and equivalent examination results published on Monday (10 August).

At 10am that day, Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon officially inaugurated the publication of the results at the conference room of the Education Ministry.

At the event, the chairmen of all education boards handed over the examination results to the education minister.

A total of 1,829,485 students took part in the SSC and equivalent examinations in 2026. Of them, 1,138,877 passed, while 690,608 failed.

In contrast, a total of 1,904,086 students appeared in the examinations in 2025. That year, 1,303,426 students passed, while approximately 600,660 failed.

According to the calculations, the number of students who failed increased by 89,948 in one year.
